I have been trying to find the difference between the M4 socom upper and the M4 upper? I have deleted everything they have in common I thought the M4 comes with the flats for the grenade launcher. It doesnt matter I dont plan on getting one but is that the only differnece? BTW I ordered a M4 complete upper. so this is not a question that will make me change my mind about what I am getting.

Barrel profile - the SOCOM is a much heavier barrel profile than the government M4r profile.

Odds are, you'll prefer the government upper - my SOCOM is a pretty hefty, although that's what I wanted.

That is correct. The SOCOM has 4 more oz of meat under the handguards.
