I received my MOD4 16 inch upper through mail for a retail price on $600.00. Upon initial inspection I find the upper to be of exceptional quality. The finish is a dark, flat black. The Yankee hill free float hand guard is solid and appears to be of excellent quality. The A2 flash hider actually looks machined from the stock of the barrel. There are no visible machining marks on the upper and the finish is without any dings or blemishes. The bolt carrier of the upper is the chromed one, provided at no extra charge. The charging handle and the bolt carrier group feels solid. I had meant to order the upper with the lightweight version of the Yankee Hill free float hand guard, but I was so impressed with the quality of this upper that I didn’t want to send it back! I mounted the upper my bushmaster lower. The upper fit very tight, and there is zero rattle between the two separate components. Finish is nearly the same as the Bushmaster. My Aimpoint QD fit on the A3 style upper and feels very solid. My LMT Backup Iron Sight attached with no problems and there was zero play. The Yankee hill forearm readily accepted the Knight’s rail covers and there is zero tolerance. The rail covers “clicked” into position on all four rails. My Knight’s Fore grip knockoff from Bravo Company Slid onto the bottom rail and when set into place feels rock solid. I am very happy with the CMMG MOD4 upper. Components, fit, finish and overall quality are equal to or better than Colt, Bushmaster or any other upper end manufacturer of AR15 type rifles. I highly recommend them. Range report to follow. BTW doos CMMG recommend any specific way to break in these barrels? |
