I e-mailed BCM at this e-mail: [email protected]

I asked: "For pinning/welding purposes , what grade stainless steel is the The BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator Mod 1 - 5.56?"

BCMs response: "The BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator MOD 1 - 5.56  is stainless Steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance."

So how does one get technical questions answered as opposed to pat marketing answers?

BCM gave you the answer.
No disrespect, But.

Just look up what stainless Steel, gives maximum corrosion resistance.

I don't think they have time for this type of stuff, they probably think, their comps work, and nobody is bitchin about it.

To clarify, I don't really care what type of stainless steel it is made from. I fully trust the integrity of the BCM product.

However, my armorer requested that I find out what type of stainless steel the compensator is manufactured from so he can select the correct welding rod when he welds the pin in place.

For example, looking around at competing brands of compensators, they are manufactured from 17-4PH stainless steel, 303 Stainless Steel, 416 stainless steel, etc. Now, I'm not a welder, but apparently the type of stainless steel makes a difference when it comes to welding it, hence the question.

All I'm looking for from BCM is, the compensator is manufactured from 17-4PH stainless steel or 303 stainless steel or whatever it's made from?

Not trying to start a smear campaign or anything. Simple question. Simple answer.

Maby ask them what kind of welding rod to use to pin the comp with.

Explain whats going on.

If you cant get a answer, call ADCO or another place thats done them.

Hope you find what you need.
