I was lucky enough to get one of your bcgs while they were in stock, but the one I received looks rather used. I'm sure you guys test your bcgs before you ship them out but this looks as if its been used for quite some time. This is my first AR, but I've ordered other bcg's and they don't have any discoloration. Any input would be appreciated, and  here are some pictures of the bolt.

And here's the underside, where it also has some wear.

Bottom pic, right side, halfway down on BCG, it is chipped. That bolt has been fired many times, not just a few test rounds.

Honestly the BCG is still GTG and will be good to go for a long time most likely... But if I bought that as new in the package, I would not be happy either.  Looks like more than test rounds.

My opinion is just a little brass from test firing. I didn't see any finish wear on the bolt or the carrier in the photos. I think it's good to go. BCM has great stuff and they do test fire it. My new carrier group from BCM looked exactly like that. Hit it with your favorite cleaner and that brass will come off.

Thats what I thought. I mean there are spots of wear even on the carrier. I'm sure the bcg will still operate, but like you said, it seems as though this had quite a few rounds go through it.

I tried cleaning it with some hoppes solvent and a brush but nothing came off.

They are all test fired prior to shipping. Email them the pictures with your concerns.

It's a bcg and it's tested before it ships - what do you expect its gonna look like?

Looks like every BCM BCG I have ordered.

They are test fired, likely with proof loads.  You will get brass shaving from that.

Go shoot it in your own rifle and move on.

Similar here, but I only have a couple of them.  Never an issue with them.

For curiosity's sake does anyone know how many rounds BCM runs for tests?

That's the easy way to get answers.  They will clarify whether it looks normal according to the company.

The one I picked up last year looked just like that. They probably test a few rounds..

There's no shiny spots on the lugs so it hasn't seen much use at all.

Just got mine in today as well and it looks exactly like that.  I think that gold stuff on the bottom side of the carrier is lube and it's gold colored not ware as you have indicated.  I noticed the exact same thing on every Glock slide that I have bought as well.

Here actually just took pictures of that and a new Glock that I bought Sat.  Neither of which have been fired.  It actually says in the Glock manual that it's lube and not to be removed.  I know you were asking for clarification, but I would reword this as it's def not an issue

Here is my bolt face

Well just got mine in and it looks like shit. Has more brass and copper on the bolt than my LMT which has several hundred rounds down range. The bottom is the same or worse than the OP's. I realize they test fire but how many rounds are we talking about here? Also my o-ring came packaged apart?
I'll be taking pics and posting, unfortunately I have a class I'm using my BCM upper in so I don't have the time to deal with this.
Ahead of the BCM fan shit storm I'll get for this post, realize that at least in my opinion a new BCG should be somewhat cleaned (hell wiped down) before sent out. I had to disassemble and spray the carbon out. Whatever.

Mine came exactly as yours.  I do not think that is brass.  I'm pretty sure it's an antiseezing compound/lube.  There is no wear on the bolt carrier it's all that cooper/gold colored crap.  If it was actually brass you'd have shavings and the like.  I do agree though they could of cleaned it and wiped it down a little.

It's not, I simple green degreased mine and wiped it down. I have many Glocks and it's not the Glock lube either. I removed the shavings with a pic, q-tip and brush, then sprayed it down wiped it and then Frog lubed sprayed it for the carbon. Either way I understand it's a tool, but I take of my tools so they take care of me. I'm working of an iPad so I'll upload pics later.

That wouldn't be from a simple testing.  I don't believe it's brass and there's an explanation such as it's like I said.  If it's indeed brass then that explains the ammo shortage for the AR because the amount of rounds it took to leave that would have to be tremendous.

You're not supposed to use the o-ring unless you are having extraction problems.
