| There is a tab on left of rail that indexes the rail to the upper. It should stop on center in most cases. I have 5 of the rails (Troy versions) on my rifles and have installed about 10 total and they have all lined up perfect. If they don't line up the other way you have to remove material from the upper or the tab until it its even. If it goes over the to right then your rail had less material on the tap from a manufactoring mistake or your upper is thinner than typical there. You would have to find a way to fill or shim some. All the railes I have installed where on Daniel Defense, Aero Precision or Delton uppers and they are all lined up/ locked up perfect. You can loosen, re-allign and tighten handguards but I'm not sure if it will hold long term and under abuse. There are manufactoring variances on the uppers and they can still be "in spec". |

Quoted: By that logic, all TRX rails would loosen over time. Unless the physics only work in one direction in your theory? The tab by the upper is only to help align the rail, it does nothing to keep the rail in place.I think its going to be a re-occuring problem in your case. My BCM/Troy Battlerail setup has done the same thing. Its kind of annoying but.......like the users said before.
Shim that baby up and re-loctite the allen bolts below the barrel nut. I think i'm getting a different rail setup because I don't want this exact same thing happening on my next build. |

I took my Bravo Company complete upper with Troy VTAC out for only the second time today for my first ever carbine match. The gun didn't get abused by any means but after the match I noticed the Troy VTAC had turned and was no longer in line with the upper. It's not much, maybe 1/16" (see pics below). It's definitely enough to affect the iron sights. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a way to correct it and keep it from happening again? Like I said, this upper was bought as a complete upper from BCM so I did not install the rail myself. And because I'm sure it will come up, no, I have not contacted BCM yet. It's Sunday and I figured I run it through ARFCOM first. I'm sure they will help me out if I need them to. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a30/LonghornAR15/3e61d6eb.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a30/LonghornAR15/9345c060.jpg Complete rifle for reference: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a30/LonghornAR15/e751fd92.jpg Unaccpetable for an upper in that price range. |

I guess I shouldn't have included that this was a BCM upper and maybe it would have stayed in the technical forum. I thought an issue like this would be considered technical.
I saw the tab on the side of the rail and thought it would keep this from happening. Shimming it makes sense but I wouldn't expect to have to with such quality parts. I'll loosen the screws and put some loctite on them and have another go at it. Thanks for the comments. |

Resolution? I was able to twist it back in place easily by hand. The screws were pretty loose so I tightened them up a bit. After tightening them I tried to twist it by hand and it didn't budge. I haven't been shooting yet but I'm hoping to do another match in a couple of weeks. We'll see how it does! |

Yeah, that's really just an issue with two bolts on the troy rail. Doesn't have much to do with the barreled upper it's sitting on. |

One of the reasons that Troy did a redesign on this rail and the other, because of people wanting it not to move, breaking the screw tap right off the rail. BUT with the old rail (the one you have) Troy will stand by the warranty if you do break it (I have seen 2 post over the net saying Trot replaced the rail for nothing but shipping cost) |
