So I finally have enough coin saved up for a BCM BFH 16" Middy upper...
Of course the one I want is sold out, with no replinishment in sight.

I want a 16" Mid with a Daniel Defense LITE 12" in Dark Earth.
I emailed BCM today, no DD FDE 12" rails are in stock, and none planned to be anytime soon.

Not really into the the SOCOM RISII 12.  Not much different than the LITE, but $50 more for a feature I want use.

So I figure I have 3 options:
1) Preffered - I can source a FDE 12" LITE from Rainier and ship it to BCM for assembly onto a stripped upper.  The end cost is about the same to me ($525 stripped upper + $336 rail  shipping).
It appears from the phone message BCM is not "custom order" friendly, though.  Not sure BCM would be able to do this,

2) Buy a stripped upper middy upper, and gas block, and ship it to Rainier for assembly... But I'd much rather have a BCM upper assembled by BCM.  This would likely cost more too.

3) I guess I could buy a barrel and upper receiver from BCM, and build it myself.  I may go that route.  This prompts a couple of questions:
- What gas blocks do you guys use on BCM upper with rails?
- Are all BCM uppers laser etched?  They're not in the photos.
- Of course, no gas tubes or DD lowpro gas tubes in stock.

Paul, what say you good sir?

You should buy the components and build it yourself.

The DD lite rail is absurdly easy, and BCM dimples their stripped barrels to make gasblock installation a no brainer.  Clean the screws and holes with alcohol, red loctite, and tighten it up.  The dimple and the shape of the screws self aligns everything right where you need it to be.

If you have a DD lite wrench, red loctite, upper block and a torque wrench, you're SET.  DD's use a really low profile barrel nut and the rail design means you don't have to index the nut.  You literally torque the nut to 50 ft lbs, slide the rail on, rotate it to where you need it, and tighten it down.  Thats it.  No precision indexing of the barrel nut like on Larue or other guy's rails.

You do NOT need to use the DD gas block on this setup- the DD lite rail has one of the largest holes in the back of it, making it very forgiving for fitting over a gas block than other rails out there.

The YHM gas block they sell is great.  For 20 bucks, its really hard to beat, and well made.  I've got 3, all work great.  The midwest industries one they sell for 40 is also very nice.  Either one of these will work.

BCM only laser etches the uppers with the logo if you buy the upper complete from them.

Hopefully whoever you order the rail from will have gas tubes in stock, but either the YHM or MI gas block will work perfectly for your needs.
