I had an fsb that came a little canted, so popped the pins and threaded for set screws to get it straight. Can you pin it at the top for added security?

Sure. Pin in the top front should be fine.

Gas Block Pin, then note in the Special Instructions box, at checkout, to install pin on the TOP front.
