I have a handgun barrel I would like threaded for 1/2 x 28 for a suppressor. The problem is that the barrel is barely big enough to have any shoulder after the threads are cut (there is enough material to cut the threads, but not much more). Is it OK for a suppressor mount (YHM QD Mite) to bottom out on the crown only with no shoulder at the back of the mount? Would the mount stay concentric? There is no way to add material for a shoulder since then the pistol would not be able to be disassembled (the slide has to travel over the length of the barrel to disassemble). is it possible to cut a smaller thread with a shoulder on the barrel and than have an adapter to bring me back up to 1/2 x 28 with a shoulder so that the adapter could be removed when time to disassemble the gun? would you trust such a set up to remain concentric?

yes we do that, its a threaded extesion for pistol barrels. its under threading on our shop services page.  Thanks for the fast response! So the extension is removable, correct? "Barrel must be at least 3.9" long." Does the 3.9" include the threaded portion? Sounds like I need to send the slide, barrel and QD mount and just let you guys work your magic. 
ETA : What are your thoughts on the QD mount bottoming out on the crown with no shoulder? Would this be safe to do and still stay concentric? |
