What kind of assembly grease does Adco use on the barrel nuts?  I seems to be red in color.

Thanks!

Is it Mobil 1 ATF?  The stuff around the barrell nut "looks" thicker.  Only reason I ask is I am going to assembly my own once my stamp comes back and was just curious what you use.  There is LOTS of talk about what kind of grease to use ie..stuff without graphite etc....

No, Mobil 1 Grease. A dab of any good  grease will work just fine. It only goes on the threads on the receiver. It it only there to keep the steel barrel nut from galling the aluminum threads of the receiver. You only need a little, you do NOT have to coat it. Put a little at the start of the receiver threads so the barrel nut drags it around.

As for Graphite and Aluminum............well, simply put, i would not worry about it. The graphite itself is NOT corrosive to the aluminum. It is a dissimilar metal and can cause galvanic (bimetallic) corrosion if given an electrolytic solution blah, blah, blah. But, we all know that a standard barrel nut is STEEL, and the receiver is ALUMINUM, so throwing in a little graphite ain't gonna matter. Besides, the Phosphate coatings on the steel, and Anodization of the aluminum, makes it a moot point anyway. In short, keep it clean and lubricated, you will have no worries.
