I am looking at purchasing a White Oak 18" SPR barrel with the rifle length gas system in the near future, or whenever they are back in stock.  My question is how much weight reduction would be achieved by fluting the length of the barrel?  Also how does fluting affect accuracy and/or barrel cooling?

I would like to keep the barrel as light as possible without losing accuracy or lifespan on the barrel.  Thanks.

If you want an 18" SPR barrel leave it as it is. If you want a lighter barrel, contour it.

I'm not really concerned about a replica SPR look-alike.  I am really just wondering how much of a weight difference it would be with the fluting.

Also thanks for the quick reply

Probably around 6  to 8  ozs best guess.
