Anybody have problems with the screw in the MAG493 or MAG508 forward sling mounts stripping?  Removed one I had installed, for first time, so I could fit a new forend, only to discover that screw was stripped and the threads were peeling off. Fairly certain it's not counterfeit since I ordered it from PSA.

Thought that I didn't over-tighten, but the screw feels differently.

I'm going to buy a new one, but it irritated me a tad.

Buy a torque screwdriver. The have them at Brownell's and Midway USA.

Magpul includes instructions on fastener torque values.

It is not difficult to strip these screws if one is not used.

The old joke was... "Tighten until the threads strip, then back off half a turn."

Upon closer examination, it was the nut that stripped. Screw cleaned up just fine.

Trip to the hardware store and 22 cents later it's back in action, but a little less 'tacticool'.  #8 machine.
