I'm thinking of getting the hunter for my 700 in .223. Did you guys by chance do any testing using AICS .223 mag's and your detachable mag bottom? I would think AICS .223 mags would work fine but knowing before I buy would be nice Any plans for releasing a .223 mag?

I just got a 700 in .223 with the 16.5" Threaded barrel and I'm looking at the Magpul Hunter stock as well...

With that I really want to have a detachable box mag option...  Sucks loading the internal magazine with my big ass gorilla fingers...

Magpul, can you comment on this for us????  Any hope??? Near future?

Sadly I don't think the AICs detachable box mag is going to be an option for us .223 shooters...

All mention of it and the magul stock have been in relation to the 7.62x51...

I might have to go Bell and Carlson route...  Its already available...  Buuut, I'd rather buy Magpul...

I have ZERO experience with AICS mags/ bottom metal so take this for what's it worth
From what I can tell, the 308 and 223 mags are the same size... the difference being for 223 the rear of the mag has a blank Spot moving the cartridge forward placing it in the proper position. So, if I'm correct, .223 should be doable in the hunter chassis using the detachable mag bottom and AICS 223 mags... be nice if magpul could chime in though.

The AICS .223/5.56 magazine is the same exterior dimensions as their other short action magazines, and fits in the Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well just fine.
