| Should I install the read mbus are far back as the rail will allow? |
|
I put the rear as far back so the top of the sight is just about at the rear edge of the rail/receiver. Think it is the second slot, but not 100%. I want the longest sight radius as possible on a 16" carbine upper.
The front was tricky for me. My 5.56mm upper is a Spikes M4 with Adams Arms piston kit. I run a MOE forend, with IWC Mount-N-Slot on the left side (holding a Surefire 6PX Pro). In the forward slot, I could not mount the MBUS Pro on the gas block. Even installing it prior to the light/forend being installed did not work. So, I pushed the light mount back to the center slot, and it gave enough clearance to mount the sight (ends up between the filter and the light handle; originally, the mount itself was causing the issue). Same light output, and a little different position for the button, but not a bad move. The MBUS Pro is as far forward as I could, and still gives easy access for removing/adjusting the piston. At least now I have sights on the rifle. Very happy with how compact they are, especially compared to the polymer MBUS. Solid back up iron sight. When I get some more money, I'll toss on an EOTech EXPS2 and G33 magnifier. |
