Have never had a Magpul stock. I am working on an SPR project and need help deciding.
Tell me what I want or don't want  out of the following and why:

Magpul PRS

Magpul CTR with LaRue RISR and LaRue Tactical Pod

Magpul STR
THANKS IN ADVANCE

For an SPR I'd go with the PRS.  I just prefer that stock for a more precision type gun.  I had a CTR and liked it a lot until I got an ACS-L, now I only use the collapsible stocks that have the improved cheek weld.

PRS for the adjustable cheek wield.

MOE Rifle Stock would be my vote. Got to handle one for the first time today and I like it a lot.

ETA: Has good cheek weld like the STR, but fixed and would complement an SPR build. I will be putting one on my SPR/DMR build.

I have quite a few stocks: PRS, ACS, CTR, MOE, Sopmod, VLTOR (3 different models) A1, A2, std carbine and maybe a few others.

Frankly for the majority of applications I like the VLTOR and SOPMOD style stocks - so out of the three you list I would get the STR.  Personally the cheekweld is better with these types of stocks and they are easily adjustable for length.  I don't use the cheek adjustment on the PRS and I like the cheek weld on the angled stocks better.

The CTR really doesn't do much (besides having a QD point) that a standard collapsible stock will do.  The RISR's make sense if you have a raised rail portion on your upper receiver like the Larue OBR's.   You could alternatively go with slightly shorter rings though.

I hope this helps a bit.

an A2 OR A1 STOCK--  DEPENDING ON YOUR LENGTH OF PULL - MEASURE FROM THE INSIDE OF YOUR ELBOW TO THE PAD OF YOUR TRIGGER FINGER that is how long a stock should be for you - in theory...

how high will the scope mount be? Eyerelief of the scope?  do you ever plan on mounting a no mag or red dot style scope?

Purist will say that no slider stock will work as well as a fixed - they are 90% right but the new stocks lock up very tight.

OF YOUR CHOICES THE Magpul PRS is the one I like.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MILSPEC OR COMMERCIAL BUFFER TUBE BEFORE YOU BUY.

Interesting - when I measure that I get 15" - Is that a little longer than normal?

The fixed MOE rifle stock would be my suggestion.  Cheap and fits well with the SPR build not to mention very comfortable.

The PRS is a very substantial stock and weighs a lot.  If your rifle has a lot of weight out front you could use it to make the rifle balance better.

I also found I have a harder time using the collapsable stocks on my more accurate guns - it seems the toe of the stock is typically pointy which I have a harder time stabilizing than the MOE fixed which has a small flat area on the toe.

Just my thoughts.  But in all honesty, its gonna be a MagPul so it will be awesome!

Spooky
