I was relaxing here in the wonderful country of afghanistan today, and i decided to watch Carbine 1 and noticed that Travis Haley was using translucent P Mags in he video. Has anyone ever noticed this before, i know i cant be the first. But anyway, my question is, why dont i have any translucent P Mags?

Because you don't work for Magpul.

They had problems with the polymer blend cracking, so they dropped development.  I guess they never pursued it again.  I thought the same thing till I found out.

You mean I decided to watch it and rushed over to you in a fit of craziness to show off the epicness that is translucent P-Mags.

Incorrect.  We didn't drop development.  It's just on the back burner.

Sweet, so you guys didn't drop it. Im sure you guys are still working out the polymer mixture for durability.. Maybe we'll see translucent M3 PMAGs :)

I'm going to go ahead and recklessly assume that it will be featured at 2012 SHOT.

I'm off to spam every gun board on the internet. BRB.

I don't think my credit card can handle this. Sign me up for a dozen as well if these things do come out. I almost bought a bunch of translucent L5AWMs recently, but just can't justify the price for the cool factor of translucent mags. I'll stick to my windowed PMAGs until we see translucent PMAGs.

Drake, what about other colors? Blue and Orange were available in small numbers for a really short time and seem to be just as rare as the translucent ones. Any plans to pursue that again?

I don't think it's 'ugly', it just looks... odd. If it were a .308 AR, I think it would be pretty damn good looking actually. I like battle rifles with forward mounted optics.

I think it's because of the placement of the EOtech that makes it look odd.

That was my thought as well, but if you look at the rail, there is a flat top extension which would raise the optic if it were placed any further back. As I said, as a .308 battle rifle, it wouldn't look nearly as odd with the optic placed there. Look at some of the pictures of UBRs being used with EOTechs, usually they're mounted that far forward.

I think it is off because of the PRS stock and ARMS handguard, coupled with the XM177 style flash suppressor. It all adds a lot of unnecessary profile to the weapon.

The UBR stock is very sexy to me because of that skeletonized optional look and the shape, unfortunately it is still very heavy so I use it on my 24" AR15.

Well the flash suppressor is the suppressor mount for the AAC SPR/M4 silencer. It doesn't add that much length to the barrel, most of what you're seeing sits back over the barrel itself. Just behind the tines is where the barrel ends. For what looks like a battle rifle style gun it makes sense. The whole thing makes me think that they were trying to do an M14 EBR-ish look with an AR15. Overall, it's actually growing on me a little bit. None the less, it would look far more appealing as a .308 in the style it is.
