How much do Magpull's MOE handguards weigh in comparison to USGI? IE, a magpull midlength set weight vs. USGI midlength weight.
Thanks! |

accurately weighing them is a bit harder than holding up a ruler or tape measure to a rifle...
i measured the length on mine for glenn since i was cleaning my rifle anyway, and happened to have a tape measure handy. to weigh them correctly i would need an accurate scale (like fractions of ounces, grams, etc) and would require taking the handguards off the rifle and removing all the rails and accessories (light mount, AFG, etc), including my red-dot since it's in a cantilever mount that sticks out over the handguard. both the USGI style handguards and MOE are similar in weight, i'm not sure which is heavier, but they're close. i upgraded from the USGI style HG for more possible locations for rails (since the USGI can have rails added on top and bottom), but i didn't feel the need for a quad rail (too much tacticool) |
| Does it really matter? They're both pretty light, as in they're both plastic with a bit of metal as a heat shield. With the MOE you are buying the option of durability, adaptability of rail options, and the Magpul name. You know you want to get them, just do it. If they are too heavy go to the gym. |
