Whats the word on the MBUS 2?
12/17/2010 11:53:02 AM EDT
[#1]
They will let us know when it's available.  Magpul doesn't give any info other than that.  SHOT is coming up and I'm sure a lot of companies will be releasing new stuff there.

Another plus one.

I have a Gen 1 MBUIS, but am tired of waiting for the Gen 2.

Unless you're using a scope with an unusually large objective it should work just fine.

Can anybody explain what the difference is between Gen 1 and Gen 2? I'm hoping it's a lower profile. They look pretty much the same though on the Magpul website.

Lower profile and iirc, the front sight has a detent and spring for the sight post.

From their site:

Front:
 NEW Features for GEN 2
   * Reduced size for greater optics compatibility
   * Spring-locking front sight post holds consistent elevation

Rear:
 NEW Features for GEN 2
   * Reduced size for greater optics compatibility
   * N.A.W.S. (No Aperture Window Sight) option by folding down both apertures and framing the target within the protective wings for snap-shots in Close Quarters Battle situations

With all due respect to Brownell's as one of my favorite vendors, you need to take any speculation about when pre-order items will be available with a huge grain of salt.  Placing a pre-order with them will not put you at the front of the line for this or any other Magpul new product release, per se.  For example, I had the RSA on pre-order with Brownell's and did not ultimately receive it until about 3 weeks AFTER it was released to other vendors in the market.

If Magpul isn't stating a release date, I wouldn't give much credence to the dates being quoted by a Brownell's customer service rep.   It'll get here when it gets here.

Hate to bring up a oldish thread, but I thought about doing a pre-order for these from Brownells but decided against it mainly on the fact that it could be a while before these are out. Would rather wait for them to be released and get them from another site that I like to buy from.

On m4carbine.net, Dozer who I think works for Magpul said they will be out late February if all goes well. >Link<

The majority of my posts are technical based on use of items as an armorer/ firearm instructor/ street cop or are images.  If you are looking for how many times I've posted that an item is not in production when someone is asking about it, probably 100, maybe a bit more.

100 or so is far fewer than I would have thought. I did forget about how many are photo posts.
Well, thanks for quenching my curiosity!

No problem, most of the time people are aware of when an item has been released, so its not something that comes up often.
