The standard back strap (the one without the beaver tail) is lose.  Specifically it has side to side play or wiggles during use.  Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there any easy mod to tighten it up.  I tried using paper to fill the gap and I couldn't get it to work out.  I also tried using the pin that comes with the kit and it didn't make a difference either.  I haven't contacted Magpul yet and don't intend to because the grip is easily 2 years old or more and is on a hard use gun.

I'm not sure it meets your definition of an "easy" fix, but as long as you don't mind affixing that backstrap to the grip permanently, you could fill the space between the grip body and the backstrap with epoxy or JB Weld. Take the grip off the gun, remove the backstrap, spread a generous amount of your filler on the area where the backstrap attaches to the rest of the grip, slide on the backstrap, wipe off the excess, and clamp the whole thing together for 24-72 hours so nothing moves while the adhesive cures.

I'd think that ought to do it.

You don't think there is any concern with the JB weld or other epoxy expanding and cracking the polymer?

I haven't worked with epoxy much, and with JB Weld not at all, but I don't think either expands as a general rule. Somebody else may some better information/ideas, though.

The part is intended to be permenent, so the JB Weld will be fine as long as it doesn't expand.  I'll give it a try.  I was going to try gorilla glue, but I know it expands.

Have you contacted customer service?  It's likely that we'd repace the MIAD and ask for yours in return to investigate.

No I have not.  I felt like it wouldn't be fare to ask you guys to replace something that it's over 2 years old and seen hard use.  I'll call and see what they say.

<snip>  I just re-read the original post and see where you tried to use the pin.

I ended up sending Magpul tech support an email and Justin Beard stated he'd send a new one with an included return shipping label for the old one - despite the original being up to 2 years old or more.  I just wanted to share with everyone how impressed I am with Magpul customer service.  I should have the new grip some time this week.

Good guys and good kit.
