Pro Mag AR-15 Mag
It's not a "knock-off" in the strictest definition of the term. Pro Mag is a reputable company and they are not representing these as P-Mags although they do look awfully close and I'm sure with all the lawsuits being thrown around that Magpul could probably make a strong case, but who knows? |

At most they could have a trade dress complaint. The believe, and I could be wrong here, the patent Magpul has is on the formula for their polymer and not for a plastic AR-15 magazine. |

(Promag based in California) It doesn't take many brain cells to copy a good idea, it takes even fewer to fuck that concept up. Personally, I don't see anything reputable or honest about riding the [successful] coattails of your competition. It's parasitic and assumes that the buyer is a mental deficient. I can see selling a lower quality product for a lower price, but the price that Promag demands for these are comparable to regular MagPul magazines. By so closely copying MagPul polymer mags, Promag has demonstrated a desperate and low business decision. As a result, I simply cannot buy Promag products with any sort of expectation of quality or product support. The old adage "you get what you pay for" doesn't ring true with this one. You're getting much less than what you pay for in this case. |

You're getting much less than what you pay for in this case. Unfortunately they are the ONLY source of P225 mags now, the factory mags have all dried up. If you do find factory mags they're usually 40-60 dollars. Their only "up-side" is they pretty much make a mag for everything under the sun. I don't buy their mags if I can find an alternative at a reasonable price. But if I do end up buying them, I buy one at a time and do the "does it work? (y/n) if n then what can I do to make it work?" process on them (usually just buying Wolf +5% power springs solves the issue, and once I had to change the shape of a follower. |
