So I walked into a local gun shop yesterday and was admiring their excellent selection when (and I almost missed it) I saw the Bushmaster ACR on the wall. The guy tells me they got it in that very day, and it didn't even have a price listed. It was the all black basic model with a fixed stock, M4 barrel and birdcage FH. It was light and felt very solid. All in all I liked it, but without getting to fire it I'll hold my opinions. One thing I can say for sure, after comparing it with an FN SCAR I was very impressed. The SCAR felt like a cheap toy next to the ACR, and I personally felt the ergonmoics of the ACR were superior. I think i'd buy the high end version of the ACR given the choice. |
| I went to the store here about two days ago and was surprised to see one as well. I was very impressed by the overall feel of it. It was funny to see the guy behind the counter try to find the charging handle so he could check the chamber before he handed it to me. While it does have some weight to it... it is very well balanced. Once you shoulder it it doesn't feel heavy by any means. If i had the money i would have left with it. |

Quoted: I hope they or Magpul offer a replacement option for the selector switch, I found it far too stubby to operate with just my thumb. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=124&t=187763 |
| OK, I decided to pick one up at a local store. They got their ACR's in a few weeks ago, and this is the first one that they have sold. It's a bit on the hefty side, and the bolt release is quite stiff. Actually, I can get the bolt to close when using two fingers on the release. I'm sure once it's broken in, it will be fine. I haven't spent much time with it thus far, probably only half an hour, but I'll get it taken apart, and shoot it pretty soon. I sold a walk in customer the included sights. Ordering TROY Micros for it. Oh, some have complained about the stock. Since I shoot a lot of AK's, I feel right at home as far as the OAL. It's prefect. It balances better than my previous SIG556's. In any event, fit/finish is nice. |
| My local gun shop had one the other day. I honestly just didn't like how it felt in my hands. I MUCH prefer the feel of my AR and my rifle seemed lighter. It did seem pretty solid, but not enough to get me to spend that kind of money on it. Here's a question that may have been answered in other places: Are the internals interchangeable with an AR? |
Went to a gun show held the ACR and the SCAR right next to each other the cheek weld on the ACR was WAY better. I couldn't get comfortable with the SCAR in any way just didn't feel right. The ACR's butt stock could have been longer but that's about it, otherwise it would have been perfect in every way but the caliber
