Hey why don't you guys make the dummy rounds orange?  The rounds can't be found in the grass if they are black!

Painting adds to them dimensionally!  They could stick in the chamber, leave paint in the chamber, generally a bad idea!

The more you lose, the more you buy.  So, factor that in when you use them.

yeah the dummy rounds are great. Great way to practice malfunctions. It would be sweet if they were brightly colored... any fruity color would do

I load my own and paint the tips with blue nail polish. Seems to work well and it's a standard nato inert blue.

I was teaching a basic carbine class today and I had the bright (dumbass) idea of painting them.  It was an abortion.  Sure caused malfunctions, took a rod to get the round out.  I was disappointed.  I'll have to chuck them into the drill press to clean them up, those I didn't ruin with the rod.

Orange/yellow/day-glo green I don't care!

If you use the dummys mixed in with normal rounds, won't they melt in the chamber? I've been considering getting some but I don't want to gum up my chamber to find out if they work or not...

No, we didn't have that problem.  I had some mixed in two magazines so there was not that much of a chance for the heat build up.  Either way, a bright color would be appreciated.

Cool, I'll give it a try. I'd love to see them in different colors, too. Or at least a high vis color. You could always chuck them up in a lathe and turn down a section to paint... Or put a steel rod on the inside so a magnet would pick them up.

I'm liking the idea of the steel rod.  Or maybe some silicone O-rings in day glow colors in turned grooves.  I like the steel rod idea the best.  We were working in a field type area so I dunno what type of magnet would be cost effective enough.  I've seen those driveway magnets but I dunno if the would be the way to go.
