Does the mag release not try to bind up pressing on the lever that far behind the pivot? Not on my Spike's SL-15 (Spike's Upper & Lower). If the pad was the same size as the pad on the lever, it would be even easier to trip the bolt release. Need to run the gun more to strengthen muscles on the left side, but the more I practice the easier it becomes. |

I shoot a rifle left-handed and just use my right thumb to hit the BAD for a bolt release. I can't really think of any situation I'd want to hit the release with my left index instead... During reloads my thumb hits the BAD lever right after inserting a magazine. For bolt lock-back on a double feed my right thumb again works the BAD lever while my left hand pulls back on the charging handle.
On the other hand I guess it keeps things mirrored from one side to the other. |

That bothered me as it added an extra step instead of going straight to the AFG, so making the weapon mirrored from left to right makes it easier to run the gun from the left side. My wife is a southpaw and minipulates the gun as you do. ETA: Maybe it would be different if I was naturally lefthanded and learning to shoot from the right. |

ETA: Maybe it would be different if I was naturally lefthanded and learning to shoot from the right. Maybe so... I guess I'm used to choking up a bit on the mag "beer can" grip on my reloads so my thumb is right there to tap the tip of the BAD. That's a pretty cool mod you made though. |

A fellow shooter was bustin' on me at the range Saturday and said "just buy a billet ambi lower". I said "$200.00+ vs. $30.00.......do the math". Plus if you don't like the mod then just install the 2nd/new back plate and you have a factory looking BAD lever.
ETA: Thanks for the feedback/input though. Never paid attention to how the wifey runs the gun until I started shooting lefthanded. Much new respect for all you southpaws! |

I shoot my rifles lefty as well and use the exact same methods as you jakjak. The mod Tornado made looks like a cross between the B.A.D. and a Wilson Combat latch...I like it. Would it decrease my drill times? I don't know. Are you lefties using an ambi charging handle too? I'm digging the ACLM, but would like to try a bigger latch. |

I've installed an ACLM along with a Norgon Ambi-Mag. I agree, the FA makes it harder to grab the ACLM from the right side. ETA: Badger has a large Ambi Tactical Latch for their Ambi Charging handle. | I'm running an ACLM. The problem I see with it is that unless the BCG is fully into battery you can't (my upper anyway) pull the charging handle back with your right hand. Instead of it tripping the release mech, it just hangs up in the notch. Maybe it's just me. I think I'm gonna try a Badger Ord since it will work for lefties even with the BCG to the rear. |

I'm learning to run my gun from my left/weak side Per Magpul Dynamics AOTTC and others, it is a subtle, but incredibly important paradigm shift... Whichever hand your gun is in, that is your weapon hand. The opposite hand is now your reaction hand. There is no weak side. |

I stand corrected, but...............my left hand, arm, elbow, shoulder is really my "weak" side. |

With a little drill press/dremel work I may have a way to make an extension for the ACLM.
ETA: Using something kinda like THIS, dremel a flat spot on the side of the ACLM, drill and tap for the threads, and screw it on. Gonna have to do some research on different rubber feet sizes. |
