How are you guys mounting pressure switches using an AFG?  Insight Technology pressure switches are a bit larger than the surefire pressure switches.  Can you guys who have pressure switches mounted with AFG post up some pics with info please?

Thanks!

I think most users aren't placing the switch on the AFG at all, but on the top rail cover.

Actually thats what I was trying to say.  I meant using an AFG you lose your platform to mount pressure switches like you can on a forward pistol grip.  So I am trying to figure out a good way to mount my pressure switches now.

Magpul is coming out with a switch panel kit at some point this year if you're the patient type.

Is anyone a patient type in the AR world?

That's good to know. I had this same problem when I got mine 2-3 weeks ago. I ended pulling it off and just using the tailcap. Patiently waiting, indeed.

You can also use a X300 light and hit the momentary/constant switch with your thumb.

Okay ... Off-topic: What rail covers are those?

They look like Tangodown panels cut off and held in place by Gear sector hand stop.

Which tape switch is that? My XT07 doesn't look anything like it.

It's a dual function pad for controlling the Insight Technology PEQ systems and the Surefire Scout.

But the same principal applies if you were to run the standard Surefire rail mounted pressure switch for the scout alone.

Yes, they're cut down TangoDown panels. I like the texture better than my old XTM's. They're retained better than my XT covers too. The hand stops are from GearSector along with the QD sling mounts. The profile of all three parts match perfectly.

I cut the panels down with a hacksaw.

Isn't your hand going to block the laser?

Something picked up from Travis is that your grip has to change slightly when operating at night, I run my hand less over the barrel at night. And it only blocks the illuminator, I mostly use the designator.

Not to hijack this thread but please reveal how well the hand stops work with the AFG, I posted something about this setup a couple of weeks ago and I was shot down. How does it work for you?

It works well for additional leverage on the weapon. When held, the hand stops rest at the web of my hand between my thumb and my pointer finger. I have them on both sides, so the weapon handles the same way ambidextrously. With the hand stop in place, your thumb rests over the top side of the hand stop.
When the light is needed, your thumb is right next to the switch on the X300. I'm considering moving to another type of weapon light.

I'm sorry...Are those rail mounted, quick detach cups RIGHT next to the cups that are machined into the MRP receiver?

Also curious if you have run a lot of rounds through that LMT with the light set up that way...I can't tell if you have a piston or DI...all I know is that the piston gets pretty damn hot after several drills.

The LMT QD mounts do not have limiters. The GearSector ones will only rotate about 45 degrees. When carried slung, you can time how the weapon hangs by how you set the QD mount. It helps keep your sling from tangling up too. I wish Magpul would offer a similar set for their stocks.

I balance the rifle as best as I can. I can stand it up on the stock, and it won't tip over.

It is a piston version in .223. In the photo, I have it converted to run 22lr. There is no contact between the piston and the rail system. I've never noticed any heat radiating through the rails really. The barrel gets pretty hot since I have a lightweight .625" barrel. I usually just dump a bottle of water through the vents.
A X300 can handle quite a bit of heat too. I think I recall seeing someone mount one directly to a gas block rail. I don't know if I'd do this, but it shows how tough they are.
