Copy/pasted from another forum I'm on that I wrote just a little bit ago, figured some folks may have an interest in it.

This isn't really a review of a gun, but it is a review for a gun part.  I'm sure some folks on here have heard of the MagPul M.A.D..  Basically it's a 90* lever that bolts onto the bolt catch of an AR15 rifle that allows the catch to be worked with the trigger finger of the right hand without releasing your firing grip.  This greatly speeds up malfunction clearing as well as reloading.

It's an aluminum bar with a milled pocket for the bolt catch, and a milled lower 'hat' that grabs the bottom of the catch.  A screw is threaded in to clamp them together over the bolt catch, maybe a 5 minute installation.

The manipulation of the setup is amazingly quick now.

Bolt in battery

To lock the bolt back, rack the charging handle and push up with your finger

Bolt locked back - to release, push downwards with your finger

Tada!  Bolt back in battery

And a impromptu demo of a reload and a double feed malfunction clear:

Nope, that's how the camera on the computer spit 'em back at me.

...maybe a Stag left-handed AR?  That confused me too, a bit.

EDIT:  no, SAFE and FIRE are backwards too... that is just odd.

*shrugs*  That's how it comes out.  I'm sure there's some edit to flip them the right way, but frankly - I'm too tired and lazy to do that right now.

The dead giveaway on a Stag lefty is the dust cover opens UP, not down.

If he took the pics on a Mac using Photo Booth it will turn out backwards.

but according to apple nothing EVER goes wrong with a mac! and I love how they brag about how mac's are SOOO much more secure than PC's. when really its more like macs make up such a small percent of computers that no one bothers to write virus for them. but hey thanks for the quick review.

Is that a Moe trigger guard? none of my metal trigger guards have the Magpul logo in them.

I have a similar device.... 'Bought from a guy on aother forum who makes 'em.
It's the only AR add-on I've kept.

Simple yet effective... makes locking back the bolt to "show clear" a very simple task.

Yup, using a Mac, no nothing's gone wrong with the hardware or software - like you said, why bother writing anything in a harder code for a smaller population?  And yes, I was using photobucket which flips them apparently

Yes, it's a MOE.

The MOE trigger guard is the polymer model, it has the logo cast into it.

MOE polymer

The metal ones are smooth.

Metal Guard

Thanks for the write up, I'll have to pick one up and try it. It looks like a great device for helping to clear double feeds. It seems most people over look this as its primary function.

That's the BIGGEST advantage of it.  Got to try it today on that for the first time at the range, and man was it fast.  Only problem - it was a stuck wolf case that I had to pop out with a cleaning rod.  Looked just like a double feed from a shooter standpoint until the case didn't pop out.  Opps
