This may be answerable by Travis or Drake, but I acknowledge that this is basically a really niche question. But I've got a Knights SR-15 E3 IWS coming and it looks like the ASAP is a no go because of the QD sling swivels.

I know not a lot of people own this gun, but if there are any out there, have you tried getting the plate to interface with that gun?

Keep the original plate on as well as adding the ASAP and you should be good. Costa is who you should really ask because I am positive he has one of these guns.

Yes the QD Swivels on the KAC lower do get in the way on the ASAP ears.  Costa runs one but it is one of the Prototype ASAP's that dont have the ears.   Now I havent tried adding the ASAP on the existing rear end plate so you can try it, or you can cut the ears down on the ASAP till it fits.

Honeslty I dont know why they put those QD cups there anyways, when you have a sling swivel getting in the way of your hand drives my nuts.

Thanks, Travis.

I really didn't want to much around too muck with the SR-15 lower, but the QD swivels (while a great idea) seem utterly counter-intuitive. I may just trim the ASAP ears off. I know why the ears are there in the first place, but I'm finally starting to get used to the ASAP/MS2 system so I'd like to keep it if possible, even if that means modifying the plate.

you should still be able to keep some of the years though right....?

I'm guessing you meant "ears" right?

It looks like by the time you cut out the required amount you'll be rendering the ears mostly useless. I'll probably pick up and asap and machine the ears down a bit.

The end result won't look so pretty, but it should work.

Just a small little update. Big props to Travis for the advice, and Chris for chiming in on the ASAP mod.

An hour or so with the dremel, a metal file, and some sand paper.

I'm having a local shop sand blast and parkerize the ASAP. So it'll look damn near factory.

Should solve the KAC sling issue. Enjoy the in progress pictures.

The gun is actually at KAC right now Hopefully back in a week or so.

As soon as it gets back I'll take the castle nut off, and install this, stake it, and crack open a beer.

I had to take my measurements for how much to remove, and package it all up and send it back to KAC. Not a fun day. That said this "should" drop back on. Worst case more filing (or a friend's grinding wheel) and another dunk in the park tank.

Either way, pics up as soon as possible.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thinks that...

Finally, a real use for the Dremel on a gun.

You should dremel the Magpul Logo into where you cut.
