How about a polymer mag pouch that is attached to the side of the UBR.  It could attach as the back side of the storage compartment and have the mag horizontal in line with the buffer tube.  I think that it is an ideal place for an extra mag on the gun.

Why is it that people always want to attach stuff to their weapon to weigh it down and make it bulky?  How do you plan on making magazine changes without taking your hand off of the pistol grip and consequently taking your finger off trigger?

Well I guess it would look cool to some one on a you tube video.

Stoopid newbie question––Matt do you have your finger on the trigger when you change mags?  Which finger?

I have to carry an extra mag on my AR per my department policy.  It is in case that I have to grab the rifle in a hurry I have at least one spare mag.

To reload I lower the rifle and reach over the top with my support hand and then insert the mag.

Will a Redimag even fit on an LT lower, given that the lower has the extra reinforcing material under the front pin?

The redimag won't fit in the rack in the car.

Use one of these with a redimag to carry 3 mags on your gun!  Gets very heavy, and kinda akward, but you got extra rounds! You know, I wonder if it could hold a Beta-C mag in there... Just think!  2 beta-C?  You could drop it on someone and break their foot!

Other than pushing the magazine release your finger should be on the trigger, ready to rock and roll encase you have to engage some one/thing.  Your finger is not off the trigger for more than a split second and no more than 1 inch from it.

By taking your hand off the pistol grip to change magazines you would have your hand up to 10 inches away from the trigger and take considerably more time to manipulate an awkward magazine change with your firing hand.  Just think, not all magazine changes are emergency magazine changes where you do not have a round in the chamber, such as tactical reloading where you can still engage a target while reloading.
