I am building a new AR and want to put a Magpul CTR stock on it.  I understand however that it does not come with all parts neccessary for a new build.

1. What additional parts do I need to purchase?
2. Where can I purchase these parts?
3. Should I buy the mil spec or commercial version of the stock?

Thanks in advance!

You'll need a buffer tube, a buffer, buffer spring, receiver end plate and castle nut.  If you don't have a buffer tube, I'd suggest you get the mil-spec version and mil-spec buffer tube. There is more uniformity in mil-spec buffer tubes so it will lock for sure and not rattle.  You can get all the parts at JTAC Supply.  Great prices and flat rate shipping.

Good luck!  I have been cruising the internet for the last 60 days and can't find it in stock anywhere.  If you find somebody who has the buffer tube in stock let me know - after you place your order of course.

Cheapest place around for the milspec buffer tube is DS Arms.

End plate, castle nut, buffer and spring should all be easier to find.

I bought the stock and buffer tube along with everything else this morning from Global Tactical for about 150.

EDIT: once I started thinking about your coment I went back and checked on Global Tcatical's website, which is very misleading as to their availability.  So I called and talked to Denny and he said he would be getting them next week.  Pretty frustrating how their website doesn't say OUT OF STOCK on it. Oh well I can wait, after all I haven't even recieved my lower yet...

I ordered a CTR and the buffer tube, spring, etc. from DSA on Saturday.  Today they email that the CTR is back ordered.  Can't win for losing!
