I ordered an upper assembly from Del-Ton in mid March. At week 7 or 8, I forget I'm so frustrated, I am told that my post-ban barrel is backordered and no idea when they will come in. Really? Now you tell me? What about letting me know in week 2 and ordering me a barrel? I'm in NJ and it's either a pinned flash hider or a post ban barrel with no flash hider. Once it's pinned I won't be able to change anything on the barrel w/o performing surgery, and I don't want that. Then on Facebook, they mention they manufacture all the barrels in house and that there is no demand for post ban barrels so they go through the more common barrels and leave me hanging. It's on their FB page! Are they waiting for blanks to come in?? They have in stock blanks on the Brownells site. I can order one for them, so they can make my barrel if they like.
If I was in a deli, ordered a ham sandwich, the deli guy instead of telling me we have no ham, but tells me that the ham will be in soon, then takes the other orders for turkey and roast beef, while I sit and wait for my ham because they advertised that they have a ham sandwich available would not be acceptable. In real life, if you don't have ham, then they tell you no ham, not take your order, not take your money. They were quick to charge me the price but not produce the product. Their advertisement clearly states 4-6 weeks to be shipped, while a week before my order it stated 1-2 weeks. It says weeks, not months.
And as for being a small shop, I understand that, but this is not a recent influx of orders. I've read posts from 2007 on how bad the wait time is.
I am frustrated and just now, they still don't know when my order will be completed, when the barrel will be available.
I'm going to talk to a lawyer friend of mine who owes me a favor. This is clearly false advertisement. I want my purchased product. I have been patient but it's been on my mind every time I read a post on their FB page of someone getting their upper within 3 weeks, or 2 weeks...
What about my order?

How did you pay for your order? I bought a Kit on March 22nd and still haven't received it yet. It's a mid-length kit w/ a pinned and welded muzzle break for NY compliance. My card was debited initially just to verify funds, but I have not been charged for the Kit. You shouldn't have paid for anything until it shipped. The only people I know of that are getting their kits in 2-3 weeks should be those that order a generic kit only (default config).

I understand your frustration, really I do.  We're doing everything we can to keep the flow moving.  It's true, we're not running the post ban barrels right now, I'm not sure when they will be run at this point.  We do have another option though, if you'd be willing, we could permanently attach a brake on a barrel for you to make it compliant.  I'm sure we've got barrels in stock right now that we could do that with.
Our 4-6 week time frame is an estimate, and that's all it is.  We don't guarnatee it'll be shipped within that time frame, we can't.  There are issues that are out of our control at times that make it impossible.  We put that out there as a guideline, not an exact time frame.  Obviously, we'd like all orders to be shipped a lot faster than that!  Yes, things back in 2007 were awful, but we were caught up for a while after that and all orders were shipping within a week or so.  Our backlog started again in Febuary...after Shot Show and around tax return time.
Also, your card is not charged until your order is shipped.  We NEVER charge for anything until it actually leaves here.  We don't think its right to charge you for something we don't have right now.  When you place your order, our web site does put a pending hold on your funds to be sure they are available, but if we don't capture those funds within a day or two, that pending charge goes away.
If you'd be willing to put a brake on there, please let us know, we'll get that out for you ASAP!  Again, I apologize for the delay and the problems you've had with your order.  That's not our intent, I assure you!

If it helps any –– it sounds like you ordered around the same time as me, and I called yesterday and they said it's in the shop. I'm hoping I'll see it in a week or two.

I think Del-Ton should stand up to your posturing and throw some legal paperwork your way after cancelling out your order. I would not take kindly to being threatened with legal action.

Ya know, I hate to sound like the post count snobs who totally tick me off but the lack of posts and the outright rant with no backing leads me to call this post
Now, if this guy comes around with a copy of his redacted (blacked out name and address) order form I'll retract this. Until I see some kind of proof I think this is one of the jerkoff little morons coming in under a BS troll account trying to cause problems.

Your Deli analogy doesn't earn you much sympathy. If I'm in line behind you, I say, "buy the Turkey or Roast Beef" it's obvious that they

don't have any Ham. You holding your breath 'till your face turns blue temper tantrum, just isn't going to make the Ham appear.

There's always the deli next door. Your veiled threat of litigation will get you few if any friends here. I understand your frustration and would just move on.

Delton has a reputation of great customer service and they have always answered their calls by me.

The AR market right now seems to be flooded with demand and supply is having a tough time keeping up. These manufacturers depend

on various vendors within their supply chain to bring their product to market. One hiccup in the chain and any scheduling time frame can and will be interrupted.

There are two sides to every story and with Kassandras' response and Deltons history of customer service I'll  have to still give Delton the benefit of the doubt.

I just checked, I did see a charge initially, but now it's been removed so I was mistaken on that one. But in NJ which is probably the same as in NY we need to have the brake pinned/ welded or no brake and no threads like a bull barrel which is what I chose. I understand that we have to suffer because our orders are considered "special" because of the restrictive gun laws in our states, but 4-6 weeks wait time and I'm at 10 now with them telling me No Idea on when my order will be completed. Pinning a muzzel brake takes 5 minutes. It's the same barrel, so your order should have gone out quicker.

Nice responses, sorry I couldn't reply to all as I have things to do and not hover on a computer clicking Icons. And Thank you Kassandra for your reply. I will toss your option around and let your office know on monday.

Just because I never ever have an opportunity to use it. I say we blow this thread up with random icons for no particular reason and have a 4-page quote chain.

Every post must quote the one before it, and have a random smiley, icon, animation, or outside picture. No two in a row can be the same. Such are the rules for flameposts like this, from this point forward.

Nah.

OP, everyone rants now and then, but most of the heat your taking is probably from the "lawyer friend" remark. Most of the shooters I

know are fiercely independent which made that comment go over about as well as a fart in church.

Thanks for the normal post and what was posted on here isn't heat. Little dancing icons don't heat me up. Some are amusing actually. Real life in a bad economy is heat. Typed words is their First Amendment Right, I support that and the 2nd Amendment.

I don't understand Ed, what did I get? I received a response from Del-Ton and I will call them on Monday. I did get a response from them, so yes ED I did get what I wanted. Are you referring to the posts with dancing icons and vulgarity used by others...that doesn't bother me. So send your icons, they amuse me.
