This is only my second AR and my first build. I traded my first AR, a Colt AR15A3, for an ATV and really didn't miss it. I said who cares if I ever have another. Then Nov 7 came along. Nov 8, 9,10, the need for an AR grew and grew. So I started looking around 'just for fun'. Next thing you know I am ordering from Del-Ton. Finally got it ordered in mid-late Nov. Then the waiting. You can all relate to that! I only blame myself though. I bought with the herd.
So the build went surprisingly well. I have never put an AR lower together and the only real hitch was when I lost the pivot pin detent for 10 minutes. Yikes! The aeroprecision lower and the Del-Ton LPK got along great! Everything from DTI looked great except one thing. The lever on the CAR stock is pretty loose and rattles around. I think it should have been screwed in a little tighter before the roll pin was driven in. I tried to pop it out but couldn't get it. I have slipped an o-ring in there for now and I intend to put a better stock on it one day anyway and I bet Del-Ton bought the stock, not built it. Another thing that is not DTI's fault but is annoying is the YHM 4-rail. It is kind of sharp! I am going to need to get rail covers or shoot with a glove! Range report tomorrow night late unless something goes wrong! -AeroPrecision Lower -DTI M4 kit with 14.5" barrel and pinned 5C2 -YHM folding front sight/gas block -YHM lightweight 4 -rail handguard -m4 feed ramps -Bushnell Holosight (yeah yeah shut up) http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn46/utcoyotes/DTI_ARF.jpg |
