Does anyone know how to route a PH packet that was completed several years after the fact? Who is the approving authority?
I've got a prior service Soldier in my office trying to get a PH for an injury that wasn't diagnosed until a few years after the fact. I've found some stuff online but I can't find exactly what I need. |

I agree with Sylvan.
However, Click here, this may provide some guidance. |

I am going to be the asshole here and state if you didn't know you were wounded until several years after the fact, you don't warrant a purple heart. He was brain damaged by asphyxiation, caused by a hydraulic fluid fire which was in turn caused by enemy fire. I think that is valid... |

You are certainly in a better position to know all the facts than I am. There is a mechanism to apply after the fact and I guarantee that I won't be the approval authority. |
| There were many instances were soldiers were injured due to enemy fire/action, but the COC felt the injuries didnt warrant a PH and did nothing with the paperwork....We got one guy his almost 2 years after the fact from an VBIED going off and imploding his window, cutting him in half a dozen places..had to give to VA to run down... |
