| I'm looking into this as well as army and navy ROTC. How likely is it that a guy with a two year degree, get into the program at the age of 18? My major will more than likely be something in the liberal arts or social sciences kind of field, as I am not that great at math, but I am great at science, english, history etc. What is the likely hood I would get a scholarship for four years? Could I use the said four year scholarship for two years of undergraduate level work and then two years of masters level work? When is mos selection done and how is it done? Can one be in the coast guard reserve, national guard or air national guard whilst in this program and be non deployable, does one need to attend basic training in conjunction with said afrotc program to be a member or is it like the SMP program? |

My cousin earned his commission through Air Force ROTC.
My understanding, is that when you are getting paid you are in the Air Force under the training command, so they probably won't want you drilling with another branch (is the Coast Guard even military anymore? It's DHS now...). Just so you know, successful completion of your studies does not equal an automatic commission. If you don't make the cut, you'll get some stripes and server your time enlisted. |

Really, so I could work my tail off in the program and it might not count? Also if I were to choose a history, or social science degree my chance of getting accepted is not that good?
