Someone explain to me how the MP Squad of 12 operates with an MTOE with 8 HMMWVs per squad.
Thats how the MTOE I received breaks in down and I am not fathoming.
Thanks

Now that's one heck of a MTOE.  When I was an MP, several years ago, it was 10 SM per squad.  SL, 3-TL, 6-troops with 3 trucks per squad.  I'd check to see if those were there right numbers from where you got the info from.  They might have included regular old unarmored HMMWVs that they still have in their motorpool and their uparmors all together if they have both.

Nope.
Thats pure.
Each squad of MPs gets 8 up armored HMMWVs t92446
And each squad gets 8 scout kits
8 smoke dispensers
8 Mk93s.

The MTOE all matches.  Its not a typo.

Don't worry, when you deploy, plenty of others (higher up) will realize you have extras and steal them!

MP's ride heavy overthere, they always had more firepower then everyone else. Your lucky you are going with that many because some will end up getting taken away, but with that many you should still be fine.

No,
I am not an MP, I am the new S-3 for a unit that is creating a subordinate MP Battalion in the National Guard.
We have to divide up the squads and teams so we have soldiers in all our little alaska villages.
I have to know how you divide 8 HMMWVs among 12 squad members in their organic teams.

I'm an MP, although I'm currently not working in that MOS. You didn't say which HMMWV variants you're getting. A typical MP load out is three troops per vehicle, so that would mean you would have at least four M116's. Are you authorized cargo carriers for each platoon?

I wonder if it's a special MTOE just for the Alaska NG?  Do other active or NG MP units have that many trucks?

Are you sure it is a suad and not section?  That appears to be moe than a platoon would have, but I know MP's are organized differently.  If the equipment is for a section, then it would be all that equipment for 2 MP squads, which makes more sense.

This is a standard MTOE for what is called MP CO Combat Support.  Over 50 units have this exact same MTOE.  Only NG seems to have them.
For those familier with MTOEs, there are 9 squads in para 104.
Para 104 has 72 HMMWVs authorized under T92466 (uparmored)

Para 104 for personnel has
9 Squad Leaders
27 Team Leaders
36 E4s
36 E5s

So you got a squad with 4 Teams of 3 (one team led by the Squad leader) each with 2 HMMWVs.

Each NCO gets their own HMMWV while the E4 and E3 split one is the only thing I can think of.

I'm not sure how to work out your 12 trucks to 8 men thing.

When I deployed under an MP MTOE, I had 10 people counting myself in my squad.

I was the SL, I had 3 TL's, and 6 MP's. We had 3 HMMWV's in our squad. Each truck had a TC, driver, and gunner. I was the extra man, and I let the SGT TC the truck while I stayed on the radio, controlling the formation. I sat in the back seat. Just a matter of choice.

I really think there's something incorrect about that MTOE. Our entire platoon only had 11 HMMWV's (3 per squad, 1 for PL, 1 for PSG).

Please disregard my previous comment about higher stealing trucks. YOU are higher! (quick, men! It's the S-3! Hide all the extra shit we've 'acquired'!"

The MTOE is a football bat, but thats what it says.

Odd, but perhaps someone up there looked at readiness rates for M1114's in theather and said "perhaps we need some spares built in".

I know, I know....not likely.

That is the only explanation I can fathom, however.

I bet they gave them a tiny maintenance section for all those too....

Wow.  The reserve MP Company (CS) i left last year had 3 humvees/squad, 10 total per platoon, plus a couple spares (probably HQ) that sat in the motor pool.  I don't have a copy of their MTOE but it sounds way different anyway, so I doubt it would help.

Last MP Co I was in was set up as followed:

3 squads - roughly 8-10 people per
Each squad had 3 trucks
one squad had for 4- the command Platoon Leader vehicle

Driver- M249/M9
T/L- M4/M203-M9
Gunner- MK19 or M249 or M60, M4/M9
AG (If you have one) M4/M9

PLGR, NVD's for all and weapons systems, etc. We had more stuff than we knew what to do with.
