The success of Army missions depends on keeping automotive and heavy equipment in top working condition. As an integral member of the Mechanical Maintenance team, the Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic handles the maintenance and repair of vehicles such as jeeps, cars and trucks.

Stupid question I'm sure but does this include Humvees?

Mechanics of any unit (light wheel, heavy wheel, tracked, turret, whatever) seem to always be tasked with fixing whatever's broken, with higher's complete disregard for time, parts availability, tools, resources, or logic.

They stick together and are usually self-segregated from the rest of the unit, and are generally much more laid-back and informal than the line.

They are your go-to guys and you don't want to piss them off.

They will learn the ULLSG and supply system and be able to order you really cool shit that you're not supposed to be able to get, and certainly not from the mechanics. If your mechanics and your supply staff are in cahoots, your joes will be taken care of.

I may have too many L's in there. It's the system that the mechanics use to dispatch vehicles to various units, squads, platoons, etc. It's also the system that they use to order parts. There are many things that joe never realizes are considered "parts". Especially expendable items. Warzone budget accounts combined with expedable items combined with sticky finger joes combined with mechanics who know the system equals some fun shit.
