Cant sleep. Just had a thought after watching another service-member turned politician criticizing the war and those that are leading it. The question that I have is this: We are serving our nation in uniform and hope to serve honorably for our careers (19.5 years for me). After we leave the service, we are free to do as we wish, a freedom that we are willing to die for. What would possess one of our former service members to become a politician? Arent politicians one of the lowest forms of life on the planet? I mean, they only think of themselves and their careers. They lie and convince themselves they are telling the truth - so why would someone who served under conditions of honor, dishonor themselves by becoming a politician? Worst of all, betray all those he/she served with and demean their sacrifices? Personal ambition leading to dishonorable pursuits. So, just because you served with "honor" in uniform, does that mean you are still considered "honorable" despite your actions saying otherwise??? There are those of us that have turned to the "dark" side and serve as politicians. Some of their actions would betray us and our nation - in pursuit of their own personal ambitions. So does that mean they are still "honorable"? I was just wondering and its late here and I havent slept well in a long time so I'm probably not making much sense. |
