Trying to find mine online but has been retired when 1stSOCOM changed to USSOCOM. It was the green shield, gold lightning bolt white horses head with black and gold airborne tab. Quib, I love that tag line. However, die linie hat auch zwei. Es ist nur das eine der anfang ist.

My avatar on the left is the First Infantry Division.
I was with other units during my tour from 1965 to 1970 but I was in Nam with the Big Red One in 1968-1969. |

I have several World War 2 uniforms that I have found in houses I have bought. On one of the jackets is this patch on the left shoulder:
and this one on the right shoulder: Does anyone know anything about these two patches??? TIA |
|
The patch with the bear is Headquarters U.S. Army, Alaska(WW II). The other one is most likely either Alaska N. G. or maybe the "Alaskan Scouts".
edited to say that I found out the other patch is U.S. Army Pacific. |

Quoted: The other one is most likely either Alaska N. G. or maybe the "Alaskan Scouts". View Quote Those Alaskan scouts you're thinking of is an Alaska Army National Guard unit designated the 207th Infantry Group (Scout). It is a brigade sized element which also has a bear in its insignia. In 2001, the Army's only alpine warfare unit (3rd Battalion, 172d Mountain Infantry Regiment [VTARNG]) was aligned under the command of the 207th Infantry Group. When I Joined the Army and needed a security clearence the FBI guy got me out of class one day during AIT asking me why I had been issued orders for the Duty Train to Berlin more than thirty times in 88. I guess the cold war was still a recent memory and all they saw was the son of a flight ops officer with the Eigth ID spending way to much time in Berlin. Edited to add: To stay on topic here are a couple of patches I wore. I can see that conversation clearly..."Pussy, man, it's all about the pussy!" You and I probably hung out in some of the same places... if you couldn't get a piece of ass in Flashdance you were either completely socially inept or a Turk. |

I remember the annual class field-trip to Grünewoche (Green Week), an international agricultural exposition held at the ICC. Exhibits from damn near every nation on Earth, and many of them included samples of their alcoholic beverages. By the time we got back on the busses, half of the students were seriously lit. Ahhh, those were the days.
