Well, if your really dying for some, just take a trip to your next good-sized gunshow. If they're anything like they are around here, you should be able to find MREs dating back to 93 or so. I couldn't believe it when I saw that big pile of brown bagged MREs at the last one.  [:D]

Dam the 2 MREs I have on hand are now collectors items.  Chicken and Rice and Ham Slice are my favorites.  So how long will it be till discontinued MREs are marketed as Collectable?  Have you seen what C-rats and LRRPS are going for these days?

Well after living off of them for 9 months I really have had all I ever care to eat. I would eat 'em in case of  a SHTF situation, but some people I hunt and camp with like to take them on our trips. All I can say is more power to them.

You shoulda seen 'em when they first came out. They don't call the brown plastic bag a 'barf bag' for nothing. They are handy but I sure missed C-rats.

Great sig line DSVET91. Where's that from?

Believe it or not, I bought Medal of Honor, Frontline for my Xbox and it was on there. I don't know who wrote it, but it really hit home.
I hope to find the whole poem or whatever it is one day.

Did a little digging.

That piece is the epitaph of a marine killed on Guadalcanal.

I don't mind so much the different entree's, but was does rub me wrong is the lack of heaters in the MRE's themselves. The "wannabe" heaters that can be purchased to compliment the MRE's lacking never get hot. They are 100% totaly useless. Don't bother putting any water into them. Its a total waste.

Nice to see our troops getting the best!!

Let's see I came in 83' and been issued C-rats, LRRPS, MREs (not anything more recent then 98) and Cold Weather rats. (2 white bags for a days meal).  Still have some old Cs at my parents house.  They have gotten better and if you ever had to live off of host nation chow, MREs are nice.
