I thought it would be interesting to put out a post that gives you an opportunity to list your families Military Service. I think we will find there is alot of history on this site. Please keep in mind, one of the proudest Americans I ever knew and proud to know was a Korean born vet by the name of Bang. He had gotten his green card while serving with the Tigers in Nam and his citizenship after his tour with the US Army in Nam. That's what I call earning your citizenship the hard way. One listing can be as interesting as a dozen. To keep it short, try to list just the ones you know of. My family: Settled VA 1652 One documented ancestor Revolutionary War Captain Two Great Grandfathers in the Civil war one Sargent with Sherman and one Gunboat Captain. Grandfather WWI Infantry Father WWII Army Air Corp Second Cousin WWII 101st Airborne (Battle of Bulge) Two Uncles Korea Me Viet Nam and one uncle Special Forces 3 tours Two cousins Desert Storm (both ground pounders) One second cousin serving now. US Army Everyone too young or too old for Afghanistan, we'll catch the next one. My family claims to have members in every war since before we were a country, but these are just the ones I know for sure. |
