I just received my RFO today for when after I leave IBOLC/Ranger School. First of all, can anyone tell me how to read what all the fucking acronyms mean on there? I don't know a damn thing except that I'm going 1st BDE, 1st Cav.
Second of all, is anyone a part of the 1st Cav that could give me an idea of what to expect in terms of deployment schedule? |

Combat brigades are supposed to be at 9 months deployed and 2 years at home right now, but I don't know if its actually happening yet... <––not first cav, I was part of a REAL Infantry unit... 1

Generally not kosher to post a future deployment schedule on an open source website. They have a facebook page which tells you what they are doing now. |

What acronyms used in what context? +1 Most of the time (at least from my experience leaving OBC and deploying etc) your initial RFO will have you assigned to a HHC for a BDE. Very often you may not find out exactly what BN/company until you in-process. Check your ORB periodically too. Sometimes your assignment will populate there with more detailed data before you receive orders. Here's something that will hopefully save you some heartache and took me a hot minute to learn: YOU are the only person looking out for YOUR career, no matter what other people tell you. Start asking around/networking. Are there any CPTs in the CCC there that are going to 1CD? Your future Company Commander may be there. You can call the BDE S1 and ask them questions, tell them where you want to go. Sometimes the simplest things can get you ahead of your peers. For example, a friend of mine left his career course, and took some leave and reported to his unit (he didn't take a full 30 days so he reported ahead of his mandatory report date). He got put in the command cue for nearly a year, while his classmate took less leave, showed up a bit earlier, and took command in under two months. Hope this helps you |

There's also infantry companies inside MI, err BfSBs... Using acryonms to confuse the OP |
| 1st Cav is mostly all armor and combined arms maneuver battalions. You will get to know Bradleys. Make sure you get mech leaders course while you are at benning, and also RSLC after you finish Ranger. Not a bad place to be, but not as fun as light in my opinion. I served in both mech and light Infantry Battalions as a medical PL and had a better time without the tracks. |
