Has anyone leveraged OPERATION WARFIGHTER under the Wounded Warrior program?
This is a transition program that provides wounded vets with an internship to learn new skills. I'm in dialog with the PM via email ref the program providing potential support to a joint DHS/ICE initiative. Specifically we're looking to bring some wounded vets as LE analysts. I'd be interested in any feedback as to how to program worked and if there were any glitches or friction points that should be avoided. Thanks in advance. |

We have a wounded vet from the Army who used the program to gain an internship in the supply warehouse in my Logistics Squadron. He transferred over to a civil service job when it opened up through the program rather than continue on with the internship.
I think it worked out well for him as he's holding down a good job. If he would have stayed in the internship program he would have been able to get a nice job in any type of logistics field such as Fed Ex or Walmart who are very eager to hire vets with logistics experience. I was not the direct POC for this vet but have worked with him closely and saw no ill effects on either side. Not much friction other than the paperwork it took to get him on board... paperwork is always sucky no matter what. |
