So, here I am standing outside yesterday at a panic alarm at a very nice house. We are having a heat wave here and the temp was 94 with 90% humidity.
I couldn't hold onto my poor Glock 22 for nothing! The sweat was rolling off and down my arms. I have tried the rubber band grips with no luck. The never stay tight. I guess I will be going to Lowes or somewhere to find skateboard tape of the stuff you put on steps that is like sandpaper. Anyone else have this problem? |
| Your solution is TruGrip. Great stuff, cheap, easy to replace, and no alterations to the gun. |

Hogue makes a slip on rubber grip for the Glock with finger groves. Works well on my G17 +1 I have had the same Houge grip on my 23 for the past 7 years and had one on my 17 for the 7 years prior to that and in 14 years never had a problem with my hand slipping on the grip or the grip slipping on the gun, including situations like the OP, heavy rain, snow, sleet, hail, ice etc. Once you wrestle the thing on it stays put. You can also try the pre cut "skate board tape" decals. My buddy has those on his 23 and likes it, but not sure on the longevity or comfort. J- |

J- FWIW, I'd advise against the use of Hogue slip-on grips on duty weapons. I know of one department that had an officer killed with his own weapon. He was found still clutching the Hogue grip he had on his Glock, investigators concluded the failure of the grip lead to his demise. In another incident an officer lost control of his weapon in s similar fashion, but was able to come away from the confrontation alive. To my knowledge both agencies prohibit the use of such grips on duty weapons. |

All those skateboard tape/friction tapes work like a charm.
If you dont like those wait bout 6 months and glock is selling a version that is just like the skate board tape only molded into the grip like that....its a new model unveiled at shot show this year. Started with the glock 22 and will go through the whole line. Supposed to be available around summer. |

Another option that has been highly recommended, no personal exp. with it: Brooks Agrip
I held an RTF frame not too long ago, and I may get one for eval. RTF looks like it'd be hell on plainclothes, tho. |

I can't imagine the hogue grip coming off my weapon without either cutting it or a pair pliers and a vice. I cannot figure out how the grip could malfunction and cause a discharge or failure to dischaegr of the weapon. Maybe we are talking about 2 different things? I am talking about this grip ––> Hogue Handall Universal Thanks |

Are you saying someone pulled the pistol out of the Officer's hand and the pistol slipped out of the Hogue slip on grip? |

I go back to work on Monday and need something by then.
All of the rubber slip on grips I have tried just spin on my handgun, including the Hogue. I will be finding some skateboard tape today. I need to try my Sig 220 with wet sweaty hand and see if I have the same problem or not. |

I'd suggest skateboard tape but I doubt it would stick well to the frame of a Glock. Where is your hand slipping the most? Front, back, sides? Is your hand to small to grip the weapon properly? [I'd bet this is most of the problem myself] If it is, adding more material and girth to it is a losing proposition. |

Reminds of the days of plastic "popcorn bowl" fire helmets, and how we found a way around "droopy decal disease"... Try prepping the surface of the grip with OOO or OOOO steel wool, or 220 grit emery cloth. You don't need to "dremel-ize" it (or was that a soldering iron? ), just provide enough of a "break" in the smoothness of the outer surface for the adhesive to get a grip, and limit the "scuff" area to the area you intend to tape. |

I have giant hands. The last time we qualified, my Corporal asked me why I was shooting a glock 23 and not a glock 22. I told him I was holding a glock 22. The Corporal couldn't believe it!!!
I just happen to be a big guy. I am about to just crush this glock in my hands and start searching for a new duty gun... |

I can hardly move mine...no way could I spin it around. No one has suggested this yet...and I know it's hot as hell but what about shooting gloves? or some other "tactical" glove maybe? Good luck and stay safe! |

Good luck and stay safe! I dont think they are cut different, when I turned in my G17 I had to take the Hogue off of it as it was getting traded in on our new G23's. I tried for about 10 minutes to actually just pull it off and could not get it to budge. I eventually had to run my knife up the back to remove it. I also survivied a pretty "good" fight on the ground, over my G23 with a guy and despite us both having hands on the gun the grip did not move or twist, so I have confidence in it not being a problem for me. Just my 2 cents take it for what it is worth. J- |

Are your fingers so large as to sit on the "humps" on the front of the grips instead of in the depression? If so, I can understand why your hand slides around. My hands are pretty normal sized and quite honestly, they won't sit properly in the groves of a G19, I'm about to remove the top ridge on one of mine and see if that helps. I have no such problem with a 1911 style pistol. |

My fingers to rest on the bumps on the high part of the grips. I would love to try a Glock 21 to see if the finger grooves are any larger. If I shoot my 1911's I have to change my grip to insert a magazine so I don't pinch the side of my hand. I understand now, your hand keeps sliding DOWN the grip toward the base as your fingers slide into the wrong "groove", you then adjust your hand back up but it keeps doing the same thing over and over. |

all of the suggestions are great...
i dont know how your dept. works.. butttt if your department will allow you to "deface" / "alter" your gun... heres my suggestion www.gripreductions.com (my personal friend.. Dale will give you, if you are one.. LEO discount! (chaching!) i work for the 8th largest city in our country and we were issued our pistols G22.. ( trust me, i'd rather carry my own weapon of choice) so i cannot deface or alter my pistol that i carry on duty... at any rate... i have skateboard tape on my city issued gun... its like IDPA if its tape? it stays "stock" SSP...if its reduced? it becomes and ESP hope this info helps... good luck bro!.. ETA.. we have the same problem.. (my palm sweats a lot) |
| When I was a Detective I had skateboard tape on both my duty and off duty pistols and the only problem I had was with the lining of my suit coats. I had my tailor sew a extra piece of material where the grip rubbed against the lining. I also had all my vests trimmed for my holsters so I wasn't trying to draw from under the vest. Only cost a couple of bucks and it worked well. |
