Ok, it's not the studying, it's the method. Take notes (I'm going through a legal pad a week, plus many pages in a spiral on non-subject matter notes), type notes, compile notebook from hell. It worked on the fitness/wellness/stress test Monday, got a 93%. Not real happy with it, but they might be kicking out a question. Tomorrow is professional policing for sure, and possibly ethics. I just want to get to mechanics of arrest for a change... ok, that annoying guy that screwed up and made us do pushups needs an ass whoopin', too ;) And it'll be nice when we get to the range so I can deafen everyone with this bloody cannon I've decided I desperately need. Ok, enough venting, back to studying so I can get an hour or two of sleep.

When you are doing it, it sure does seem like a crappy method of studying, but when you are done you sure as hell know the subject matter! LOL That how our academy was, for close to 18 weeks. We had to turn in our typed notes every morning, regardless how late we were in the night before. Almost made it for me atleast that I didnt have to study to hard for either weekly tests or for State Licensing test very hard and graduated top 5 in my academy of 45..

One of the things that helps me is picturing a situation where I am applying what I am trying to learn. My classmates get lost in water law but I'm able to handle it with ease by picturing some scenario where I might have to use it. Now it may help that I've acutally been in situations of applying the law so it is not a mystery to me. But this method I've also used in biochemistry which I am not that great at (and my water lawless classmates are). For that subject, it works best for me if I picture I'm on the follow on team to some disaster or attack, where what I write in my field reports will be used back in the States for treatment (hypothetically speaking).

Of course, it took us a week to figure out how many terrorists  there had been."––Adderly speaking, to unnerve his captors, to another hostage in volume to be heard by his captors who he suspects are amateurs. This test was a clusterfck. A whole bunch of people got stuff wrong that shouldn't have, turns out the key was wrong. Oops. Thought I was gonna get nailed, but managed to barely get an A after the key corrections. 90% isn't good, but I'll take it and study more next time. This was basically police history, which has always been my weak subject. Ethics is a bit more logical, and is next week. Constitution/BOR is probably going to be the same day, which is more memorizaton.

Life will be good when we get guns. I'm going to attempt to sneak a zombie target onto the range. By then we'll all need a laugh :D

ETA: After everything got regraded I wound up with a 94%. I can live with that :)

Ethics was 2 weeks ago. Constitutional law is coming up a week from today, and nobody is ready for this one. We found that out yesterday in class. Firearms? What's that? We're not even close to shooting something, yet.

Oh well, next one is communications and report writing, and if I can't pass that, then I need to be sent to a school for wayward girls.

Vanilla_Gorilla visits Castle Anthrax, to find eight score young blondes and brunettes, all between sixteen and nineteen- and- a- half, cut off in the castle with no one to protect them.. It is a lonely life: bathing, dressing, undressing, making exciting underwear. They're just not used to handsome knights policemen.

US and Texas Constitutions/BOR, ethics, and multiculturalism tests Monday. Ethics is a few definitions and a bunch of common sense. Same for multiculturalism. Constitutions/BOR... yeah, that'll be memorization.
