I, in my bias opinion, believe dispatchers should be added to the subtitle of this forum.  It is currently "LEO, FF, & EMS Forum."

Opinions?

I think that's fair. After all, you don't want to piss off the dispatchers, cause they'll tell you where to go...

Since when did we allow dispatchers in here?

Well, since it is an open forum it doesnt matter. But in my opinion it should be a LEO forum FF and EMS and Communications need a seperate forum.

We have always considered dispatchers part of the LE family in these parts.  It would be like having a "patrol, detective, sergeant, bailiff, correction officer, dispatcher, deputy, marshall, FBI, ATF and ICE" forum.

I think they are part of LE.  You can't have a department without patrol, investigations, and communications.

Dispatch sometimes has a unique perspective that we all need.

Keep them here!!

I'm not a dispatcher.

I have been trying to boot the hosedraggers out of here for years, but Goaty won't buy off on it.

A good dispatcher can save your life without even getting out of his / her chair.

"You may know where you are and what you are doing.

GOD may know where you are and what you are doing.

But if dispatch doesn't know where you are and what you are doing you'd best be on good terms with GOD."

And no I'm not a dispatcher.

Aren't dispatcher really the place kickers of the LEO world?

Not all dispatch centers are LE or under control of LE.  One of the larger agencies in the state is funded separate from LE/FF/EMS.  They handle all types of calls for all 3 types of agencies.

Don't know why you feel left out.  In my world our dispatch center takes all the calls LEO/EMS/FIRE and even takes and dispatches calls for SAR, the National Park, US Fish and Wildlife, USFS, and Wildland crews....I don't think it is intentional...I would say dispatch could include itself under any or all of those categories.

I have no problem with dispatchers, hell I wouldnt wish their job on anyone. I hate it when I used to get stuck in Dispatch when our dispatcher called in. Our dispatchers are covered under our police bargining unit so I my mine they are one of "us." We all work in the same "industry" of public service regardless of which area u work.

Just my 2 cents

Eh.  We all know who the dispatchers are and enjoy their contributions.

Half the people posting in here are just people from GD who think we need to be straightened out, anyway, and get bored over in GD at the lack of LEO's to straighten out over there.

Its called brothers of the shield for a reason. Not, shields. Shield. Why?

Because the badge might say different things, but the people behind it are all on the same team.

That's why I like having LEO/FF/EMS all in one forum. And yes, dispatchers are an integral part of all three, so you guys can join in on all the fun too.

Just a lowly hosedraggers opinion.

LOL last post was a joke ease up dog killers!!!  (Our LE doesn't even handle dog calls unless the dog has been aggressive and basically by aggressive I mean has bitten someone.

We'd all commit suicide if we didn't joke around.
