I'm looking for a leather uniform jacket. black or navy blue.
working in MN I need all the protection I can get from the wind. I've found alot of those "classic" style coats with all the zippers and snaps, but I'm looking for a basic jacket. fur collar a plus, I found one online, but the pic is not good: http://www.leather.com/police/a2_police_leather_jacket.htm any other suggestions?? I live in Southern Nevada, so I have MUCH less experience than you do on jackets.
I was under the impression that leather holds the cold more vs textiles. I know my leather MC jacket seems to hang on to that cold. You're right, it does block the wind though. In about 4 hours, if I can, I'll talk to our traffic guys about what jacket they use. It's VERY functional and looks really sharp. I'm jealous of it, to be honest. |

You might look at Taylor's. They have some nice leather for the PoPo.

Passaic Leather in NJ, arguably makes some of the best Police Jackets out there..90% of the guys in my area get thier jackets from PL...they're also expensive, $700.00 roughly for our jackets now. They last forever though. My original jacket i had passed on because it didnt fit me anymore (Who knew a lether jacket would shrink like that??? ) the one i have now is almost 35 years old, i bought it of a retiring guy about 15 years ago. If you get a Jacket from PL, you'll have it for your entire career.

They have zip-out liners and removeable/concealable reflective panels. I believe it's the "Atlanta" Style. The guys who have worn the consistently for the past +/- 8 years say they're great for our really cold times (teens-twenties). I don't remember ever wearing mine with the liner beacause it's so warm. Some drawbacks are the somewhat restricted movement and the fact that adding shoulder patches leaves permanent holes. Just something our Dept didn't think about, I guess. |
