I feel like I'm asking a dumb question, but I just don't know.  I'm involved with my department's firearms committee.  There are several items of equipment that have to be addressed / replaced.  I was thinking what better place to look at nearly all the equipment available and make some in roads to acquiring the equipment than the Shot Show?

However, does being on the firearms committee of a pretty large department qualify one as part of the firearms industry or just a consumer and not permitted entry?

Yeah, I e mailed them but haven't heard anything back from them.  I was wondering if anyone else has gone under similar circumstances in case they aren't too prompt on answering e mails.

From this thread

For LEOs, go to www.shotshow.org and register as an attendee. The registration page looks like you have to put in an FFL number, but just fill out everything else - leaving it blank. Once you click the submit button, another page will ask for your affiliation. There is a specific radio button for law enforcement - just click it and complete the registration. I went in 2007 and am already registered - and received my confirmation barcode - for this year with no problems. It costs $20.00 for pre-registering, but I don't know what it is after that.

Enjoy the show!

I got in a bunch of times in the 1990’s based just on the job.  However, I applied beforehand and paid whatever the fee was since I didn’t want to risk traveling to wherever it was only to have a problem getting in.

Incidentally, something else to consider is the annual IACP Show.

It isn’t as large as the SHOT Show, but it is (naturally) totally LE oriented and has a lot of LE non-firearms related stuff that might also interest you.  In times past they let anyone with LE creds into the exhibition hall (but not of course the seminars and such).  FWIW, here’s their exhibitor list from the last show:  www.theiacpconference.org/exhibitor_list.cfm

I used to do both and, back then at least, the IACP Show was better for job related stuff.

Still, if you also want to do some personal firearms-related looking around, you’d really enjoy the SHOT Show.  Just wear comfortable shoes!!
