I was asked about 20 pages of questions ranging anywhere from do I gamble to do I have sex with animals. Then I was hooked up to the machine and asked 10 questions, one of which was the catch-all "have you been truthful on all the questions asked of you today?".

Sounds like the one I took.  Took about 2.5 hrs but the actual hookup to the machine only took about 30 mins.

I believe the employee polygraph protection acts protects you from taking one if you are already employed.

Its just a scare tactic to use against dumb crooks.

I've always wondered if a truthful affirmative answer to that would keep you from getting the job.

I don't know, I've heard a very large percentage of LE officers admitted during their polygraph that they have,,,

I can tell you we had a person admit to that on the pre-polygraph, which is a packet they fill out at home and return to us. That answer and a few others led to him not being asked to come in and take the polygraph

I'm sure it was something sexy like a goat or a donkey

So I was looking for a picture from this movie to put up here. If you type in sexy goat on google, you'll find some sick stuff.

OK, I'm not a LEO yet either, how can you answer "do you gamble" or what ever, when it can not be truthfully answered yes or no? For my self: I have gambled, but not in a few years. I used to drink smoke, etc, not in 2 years though. I know from being in court before that they will tell me to answer YES or NO only. I would have to say I can't answer it then.

But if the Question is "do you gamble" I would *honestly* say "NO" because I don't now. But honestly it would be VERY difficult for me to answer in one word answers for almost any question about my past.

If I "FAIL" any questions do they ask for an explanation or just not hire me?

Depending on the polygraph administrator you may be asked clarifying polygraph questions.

I had to fill out a "pre-polygraph" booklet and was asked questions to confirm what I had stated in the written part.

Mine was no big deal and only lasted about 30 minutes.

Don't sweat it, and tell the truth.
