| For those of you that carry backup pistols while in uniform, what are good carry locations? I know the ankle is common but that is a difficult location to get to and seems like it could cause problems while running. |

I carry a G19 in an ankle rig over my boot. I wear it on the inside of my left ankle so I have access to it with my right and left hand if necessary. I've also carried in a "bellyband" style holster inside my shirt, but over my vest, and it's actually harder for me to get to than the ankle rig. In the winter-time when a big jacket is standard I've carried a 5 shot snubbie in either the front right or front left pocket, and before I had a 380 caliber limitation, I used to carry a 32 seecamp in a back pocket. and No, I have never carried in all 4 locations at the same time...

In uniform I used to carry a Kimber Ultra in a shoulder holster under my shirt for strong hand draw and a Colt Mustang (GTFOM gun) in a vest strap holster for weak hand draw. Pretty quick access and I never had either gun exit the holster in a struggle. Now, in plain clothes, I just wear the Kimber in an ankle rig on inside of left ankle. |

If in uniform (which is very rare these days) I carry a glock 26 on the left side bullet resistant strap. It rides just infront of my left armpit. Use an el-cheapo uncle mikes vest holster. Now that I am in the DB I carry my S&W 340PD .357 snubby in my left pants pocket or left rear pants pocket depending on what I am doing/how I am dressed. J- |
| On and off duty--colt agent in the left front pants pocket. I have gotten a lecture for poor officer safety for having my hand in my pocket once. Then the other three guys started laughing and looked at the stupidvisor lecturing me and asked "do you know what he is holding". So if you are in colorado and see a cop with his hand in his left front pants pocket--don't assume the officer safety sucks. |
