I doubt it.  But I can't say for sure.  Call up the department you are looking at and ask them.  Don't give your name, though!

Every department has their own requirements so can't really say for sure. Part of my department's annual physical is a dermatological exam but that is to look for the early signs of skin cancer. Like I said can't say for sure but don't really see it being that big of a deal.

Every fire department has different requirements, but I do not see eczema as a disqualifying factor. Many departments use NFPA 1582 as a guideline for FF physicals. It refers to eczema as a 'Category B' medical condition, which means that as long as it doesn't interfere with you performing 'essential job tasks' you are good to go. The essential job tasks list is kinda long so I will link you to the site:
www.nfpa.org/aboutthecodes/AboutTheCodes.asp?DocNum=1582
click 'view the 2007 edition of this document' at the bottom of the page, chapter 5 is 'Essential Job Tasks'
Realistically, unless your eczema is REALLY bad I don't see it as an issue, but it might vary by dept.

Is this something that will even be asked during the medical part of the application process?

ZootTX, thanks so much for that document. It was huge, but I found the information I needed. I'm applying for Montgomery County, MD, and the website said the use Nationally recognized standards I'm assuming this is what you mean. I'll call the office tommorow and ask.

No problem, I just recently went through the whole 'getting hired' process (I started in Jan) so I know how things like that will drive you nuts.
I don't see it as being a problem, but calling and asking can't hurt.
