I have recently been appointed as the department armorer and firearms instructor. I'm basically revamping the entire firearms program that we have. I have three requests: I would like to get some copies of firearms courses that you shoot. I've got a lot of good ideas from various training courses that I've been to but am always looking for more. I also need copies of department policy on patrol rifles. We are trying to put together a policy on patrol rifles and I want to turn in some examples that we can steal good ideas from. I'd also like to see copies of policy that allows personally owned weapons. Thanks for any help you can give me. I can be contacted via IM as well as email. Do you and / or your department have a membership with the NTOA and the ability to access the secure forums at their site? If not it is well worth the membership dues if you are taking on this type of responsibility. There is a lot of information that gets exchanged over there and archived stuff. If this was posted there you would get a good amount of data. As you mentioned I am the type that likes to verify status but once that is done, I am always willing to send what I have.  I will shoot you an IM. |
