Welp...got my PC and did my first investigation/arrest for DUII.  Guy ended up blowing a .14.  He was extremely respectful and nice..and old enough to be my dad.  But it's a good feeling to know that a crash was possibly prevented or a life possibly saved with him being off the road.

I hope the guy realizes you did him a favor.

I have no use for drunk drivers. I got hit by one awhile back and was off work for a month. Asshole only got the minimums, and has to buy the city a new car.

Best thing I can tell you is do all the field performance tests, not just the required ones. Get every thing on camera, let the defense attorney see what a putz their clients was.

HGN is your friend. When they muddle through everything else or may be high instead of drunk HGN will catch them.

In 10 years I have never lost a DUI.
Here's my answer to DUIs and drug dealers

I was at a fatal crash most of the night involving a DUI. Good Job.

I've only managed three OVI arrests in my little 2.5 sq. mile patch of responsibility.  The first got plead down, the second two were convicted.  Only one of them blew (.142), both of the others I think would have been >.2.

Good job.

I got my first one about two months ago and had much the same experience as you (polite guy, everything went smooth)

I got a fifth offense two weeks later. He wasn't nearly as co-operative and did everything in his power to make my SFST's a pain in my ass.  He ended up being a .217.

First guy plead to his.  Lets see what happens with the felony.
