| I've been thinking of changing careers and jhave been thinking of become a code enforcment officer. Is anyone here one or have been one before. Any classes I should take at night school to help? I can't be a real cop, because I have a few compressed disc in my back and wouldn't pass the physical. Thanks. I'm in Kommiefornia if it matters. |
+1 A lot of code enforcement guys are seen as "JBT wanna be's"; in addition, check your state's codes and the local municipality's ordinances about whether or not you can carry or are provided with "sworn officer" status, a la PD and FD (it adds "aggravated" to any assaults against you while on official business). |

Here, they are pushed so hard to 'get their number' that many of them have gotten in trouble for writing fake ones. I even received a summons for being parked in a 'no parking zone.' I was on duty, safe guarding a Subway station during the MTA strike. We had to take out our POV to our respective stations because, of course no trains were running. The Transit Division has maybe 3 or 4 cars per house as most of our patrol is done on foot on the trains. I had a cherry light on my dash and my parking plaque next to it and my registration sticker. The Officer did see my plaque and I know this because it was listed on the ticket. I would consider being a dispatcher before being a code enforcer. |
In Illannoys there is a provision for "peace officers" that are empowered with arrest for local ordinances only. Their "carry class" is a 40 hour run through on lethal force and force continuum.
It's basically so that any numnuts who jumps 'em while they're trying to cite 'em for a pile of crap in the backyard gets hit with Ag assault rather than simple. |
